Storied History

For the largest architecture expo in the western hemisphere, the Chicago Architecture Biennial, there was only one choice for an agency with deep Chicago ties: H5. It was up to us to position the biennial, themed “…And Other Such Stories,” as a powerful cultural and civic arts initiative and a crucial player in conversations about architecture and urbanism, both locally and globally. We quickly got to work media training the biennial’s world-renowned experts for a series of online, print and broadcast interviews — it was crucial that they learned to chat in layman’s terms rather than what they dub “archispeak.” The H5 team was there every step of the way, providing onsite support for all interviews to ensure a smooth experience for both our client and our media contacts. When it finally came time for opening week, it was clear our pre-event hype had paid off: We packed the Chicago Cultural Center with loads of reporters, multiple broadcast crews and the city’s newly elected leader, Mayor Lori Lightfoot. In all, we landed more than 100 media placements in key outlets, including the Chicago Tribune, Michigan Avenue magazine and Chicago magazine.
