Girl Scout Cookie Season – Our Favorite Time of Year

SNAPSHOT

H5 has been working closely with the Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago & Northwest Indiana for more than five years to support the organization’s mission to build girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place.

As part of our longstanding relationship with GCNWI, each year H5 helps drive awareness for Girl Scouts Cookie Season – the largest girl-led entrepreneurial program in the world. Each box sold represents more than just a sweet treat—it’s an investment in the future of local girls and the experiences that will shape them. The money raised helps troops turn their goals into reality, creating memories and opportunities that last a lifetime.

Teaching entrepreneurship to young girls is important because it shows them that they can be leaders in any field they choose. It’s not just about the sales and money, it’s really about self-empowerment and creativity. It helps them understand they can take their passions and turn it into something impactful.

THE ASK

Promote the Girl Scout organization’s annual cookie season and its primary objective of empowering young girls to develop important life skills.

APPROACH

In addition to leveraging cookie season data and facts, as well as Girl Scout staff and members to serve as spokespersons in spreading the word about cookie season.

H5 tapped into notable milestones throughout the sale season to bring attention to the cookies, including the annual kick-event for the season the Cookie Rally at the Allstate Arena and news of a Girl Scouts’ accomplishment selling a record-breaking number of cookies.

H5 also established a partnership with PAWS Chicago for National Girl Scout Cookie Weekend to promote cookie sales, as well as serve as a service project for a Chicago west side troop.

RESULTS

Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana’s 2024 Cookie Season generated a lot of excitement and garnered extremely strong press covering a variety of topics from the announcement of the start of the season

  • Media Relations: Exceeded earned media coverage goals with inclusions from all local TV affiliates – FOX, ABC, CBS, NBC and WGN – as well as online publications, like Chicago Tribune and Chicago Sun Times, and local radio stations.
  • Influencer Engagement: H5 engaged paid influencers for the first time in helping to amplify visibility of Cookie Season, working with four local market social media influencers that generated reach and engagement.
